Tech Names Flashing Signals Before the Crowd Catches On

A few tech names just flashed signals the crowd hasn't caught yet.

A contract manufacturer riding the AI server wave. A distributor breaking out ahead of the semi cycle. An insurtech name with a sale process putting a floor under the stock.

And an AI-native SaaS play the market wrote off too early. Some setups worth watching this week.

Software

Adobe Puts an AI Photography Expert in Your Pocket

Adobe (NASDAQ: ADBE) is adding an AI photo coach to Project Indigo, its experimental iPhone camera app. The new system studies framing, lighting, color, and emotional impact, then explains what works and what needs improvement.

The app can also suggest ways to reshoot an image by adjusting exposure, composition, or objects in the frame. Adobe is turning AI into a photography teacher rather than using it only to generate or heavily transform pictures.

One Tap Clears the Clutter

Project Indigo is also testing smarter object removal that does not require users to circle unwanted items carefully. Simple controls can remove people, vehicles, wires, trash cans, fences, poles, and other distractions from the background.

Adobe’s AI identifies the unwanted object and automatically rebuilds the missing area. The approach makes advanced cleanup tools easier for casual photographers who may not know Photoshop or traditional editing techniques.

Photos Get a Digital Darkroom

The update can generate realistic background blur, apply visual styles, and recommend Lightroom adjustments for existing photos. Users can also describe a custom edit when the available preset controls do not cover the result they need.

Adobe is testing these tools inside an AI Playground before deciding which features deserve a wider release. Project Indigo is becoming a camera, an editing suite, and a photography coach, all packed into one mobile experiment.

Enterprise Storage

IBM Turns Flash Storage Into a Healthcare Defense System

IBM (NYSE: IBM) is positioning FlashSystem as a security and performance platform for hospitals managing medical records, imaging, monitoring systems, and AI-driven diagnostics.

The system protects critical data by maintaining locked snapshots that cannot be altered or deleted during an attack.

AI-powered monitoring watches storage activity for unusual behavior linked to ransomware. IBM FlashCore modules also collect real-time system data, helping healthcare teams detect threats before they spread across clinical infrastructure.

Ransomware Meets the Flash Wall

FlashSystem can identify suspicious activity in under a minute and preserve clean recovery points throughout an incident. Quantum-safe encryption protects healthcare information while stored, transferred, or actively used by applications.

IBM Storage Defender Sentinel adds application-aware protection for major healthcare platforms, including Epic. Hospitals can capture consistent copies of essential systems and restore trusted data without rebuilding their entire environment from scratch.

Hospital Data Gets Its Fast Lane

FlashSystem delivers extremely fast access to electronic records, medical images, and clinical applications, even as data volumes grow. Low-latency storage helps doctors and care teams retrieve information without waiting for overloaded systems to respond.

AI-driven management also automates workload placement, performance tuning, and storage optimization.

IBM is turning hospital storage from a passive data vault into an active defense layer that protects information, speeds recovery, and keeps healthcare systems running under pressure.

Hidden Tax Breaks (Sponsored)

Capital gains taxes may quietly reduce more of your investment returns than you realize.

But the tax code includes several strategies that may help reduce that bill.

Three often-overlooked areas include investment-related expenses, cost basis adjustments, and real estate selling costs.

When structured correctly, these deductions may help minimize taxable gains.

Because the rules can be complex, many investors work with fiduciary financial advisors to plan tax-efficient strategies.

Cloud Networking

Microsoft Expands the Hardware Muscle Behind Its AI Cloud

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) is bringing AMD’s Helios rack-scale AI system to Azure to power large model inference, Azure AI services, and customer applications.

Helios combines Instinct MI455X GPUs, EPYC Venice processors, Pensando networking, and ROCm software into a single integrated platform built for demanding AI workloads.

The deployment gives Microsoft another powerful infrastructure option for running frontier models at cloud scale.

Azure customers can use the system for training, inference, search, data preparation, and other production AI tasks through Microsoft’s managed cloud services.

Venice Checks Into the Cloud

Microsoft is also adding two new Azure virtual machine families powered by 6th Gen AMD EPYC Venice processors. Azure HDv2 is designed for agentic AI and large data pipelines, while Azure HXv2 targets chip design and other engineering workloads.

The new machines expand Microsoft’s hardware choices beyond a single processor architecture. Companies can match different Azure systems to their workloads instead of forcing every AI, data, or engineering project onto the same type of cloud server.

The Network Gets Its Own Turbocharger

Microsoft is expanding its use of AMD Pensando data processing units across Azure’s AI backend and selected cloud services. These specialized chips handle networking and connection tasks separately, leaving the main processors free to focus on computing.

Azure Boost will work with AMD technology to improve networking speed, efficiency, and connection processing across Microsoft’s cloud fleet.

Together, the upgrades give Azure a more complete AI stack spanning processors, accelerators, software, and the network tying everything together.

Recent Tech Movers

Contract Manufacturing

Sanmina (NASDAQ: SANM)
Riding the AI Infrastructure Buildout

Despite being off its recent highs, Sanmina has been gaining ground this year as investors wake up to who actually assembles the servers, switches, and optical networking gear going into hyperscaler data centers.

The company reports on July 27 after market close, with consensus calling for $2.83 EPS on roughly $3.46B in revenue.

Cloud and communications infrastructure end-markets have been trending up, and Sanmina's high-mix, complex manufacturing capacity is exactly what AI OEMs need. Re-rating potential is real if guidance validates the demand.

Action: Get positioned into the July 27 print. Look for any 3-5% dip this week as an entry.

Risk: EMS margins are thin by nature. A single customer inventory correction can hit results hard.

Electronics Distribution

Avnet (NASDAQ: AVT)
Breakout Setup After a Long Consolidation

Avnet has been building a base for months, and the technicals finally look like they're breaking out. High growth-momentum scores from screening services, improving book-to-bill in the electronic components channel, and a semiconductor cycle that appears to be turning back up.

Distributors like Avnet lead the semi cycle by one to two quarters, so this move typically front-runs the chip names.

Action: Get-long-ahead-of-the-semi-cycle-re-acceleration trade. Add on any pullback to the breakout level.

Risk: If the semi cycle stalls again, distributors take it on the chin first. A weak book-to-bill would invalidate the setup fast.

Insurtech SaaS

CCC Intelligent Solutions (NASDAQ: CCCS)
Sale Process Rumors Set a Floor

CCCS jumped last week on reports the company is running a strategic review. Deal or no deal, that's a strong floor.

The fundamentals underneath the M&A speculation are legitimately good: dominant network position in P&C insurance claims, roughly 90%+ market share among top US insurers, and a subscription revenue model with meaningful pricing power.

Earnings are expected in early August.

Action: Own it for the earnings print and let the sale process be optionality.

Risk: If the sale process falls apart, expect a 10-15% air pocket. Don't oversize this one.

AI-First SaaS Worth a Second Look

Freshworks (NASDAQ: FRSH)

The customer support SaaS category has been written off, and Freshworks got dragged down with it. That's the setup.

The AI-native rebuild: Freshworks bet its future on Freddy AI, its native agentic AI layer sitting across customer support, IT service management, and sales.

Unlike legacy players trying to bolt AI onto old codebases, Freshworks built the AI stack in from the beginning. That matters when you're competing with the giants for SMB and mid-market wallet share.

Why now? The stock has been range-bound while ARR growth has held up in the low double digits. Management has been executing on margin expansion, and free cash flow is inflecting.

If the next earnings print shows sustained bookings acceleration in the AI-enabled tier, you get a re-rate to a proper growth-SaaS multiple.

The upside case: A $5B+ SaaS name trading like a slow-growth utility with an AI angle analysts aren't underwriting. That gap is the trade. If Freshworks starts printing 15%+ growth again with expanding margins, this doesn't stay in the mid-teens.

Action: Speculative position ahead of the next earnings print, likely early August. Small size, but the risk/reward is attractive.

Risk: SMB customer churn is Freshworks' Achilles heel. If macro softness accelerates, the small-business SaaS book gets hit hardest, and this thesis breaks.
