Retirement Rules Shift (Sponsored)

Executive Order 14330 directs regulators to make it easier for retirement plans to consider alternative assets, including commodities, alongside traditional stocks and bonds.

The Department of Labor is already moving forward with proposed rules aimed at expanding those options for millions of 401(k) investors.

Meanwhile, J.P. Morgan remains bullish on gold, with forecasts around $6,000 to $6,300 an ounce over the coming quarters.

Consumer Hardware

Apple Brings the iPhone Duo to Stores Worldwide

Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) has launched the iPhone Duo, bringing its first foldable smartphone to stores worldwide. The device combines a 5.4-inch outer screen with a 7.6-inch internal display that opens for apps, videos, games, and multitasking.

The launch introduces the biggest structural change to the iPhone since Apple moved beyond the original home-button design. Apple has built iOS around the larger folding screen, allowing compatible apps to reorganize their controls and content when the device opens.

New Hardware Supports the Folding Design

The iPhone Duo runs on Apple’s A20 Pro chip and includes a 48-megapixel camera system with zero shutter lag. Apple has also brought back Touch ID, giving the folding device a different biometric setup from the Face ID system used across recent premium iPhones.

An Apple-designed N1 wireless chip supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity. The company’s new C2 modem manages cellular connections, while a 3D-printed titanium hinge cover protects the mechanism behind the folding display.

A New Category Joins the iPhone Lineup

Apple is entering a segment already developed by Samsung, Google, Motorola, and several Chinese smartphone manufacturers. Its arrival could bring foldables closer to the mainstream by connecting the format to Apple’s hardware, software, services, and developer network.

The iPhone Duo gives Apple a new premium device above its traditional smartphone lineup. Its folding display also creates fresh possibilities for mobile applications designed around larger screens without requiring a separate tablet.

Satellite

Rocket Lab Launches Three Satellites Built to Track Signals

Rocket Lab (NASDAQ: RKLB) has deployed three HAWK satellites into a 520-kilometer low Earth orbit using its Electron rocket. The satellites will expand an orbital system designed to detect, locate, and analyze radio-frequency signals across large areas.

Electron launched from Rocket Lab's complex in New Zealand and placed all three spacecraft into their intended orbit. The mission became the company's 98th Electron flight and its 19th launch of the year.

Three Satellites Operate as One

The HAWK spacecraft fly in a coordinated three-satellite formation rather than as separate machines. Each satellite observes radio activity from a different position, allowing the system to calculate a signal's origin.

Collected data can support maritime tracking, GPS-jamming detection, radar monitoring, communications mapping, and space defense. The satellites can locate signals from ships, transmitters, and electronic systems that remain difficult to monitor using conventional imagery.

Small Rockets Serve Specialized Networks

Electron was designed to carry smaller payloads on dedicated missions rather than place them alongside larger satellites. A dedicated launch gives constellation operators greater control over orbit, deployment schedules, and spacecraft positioning.

Rocket Lab has now completed three Electron missions supporting HawkEye 360's radio-frequency sensing network. The latest deployment shows how compact rockets and coordinated satellite clusters can turn signals moving through the atmosphere into usable intelligence from orbit.

Automation

Nasdaq Extends Its Trading Technology to Run Nearly Around the Clock

Nasdaq (NASDAQ: NDAQ) is preparing its exchange technology to support U.S. stock trading for 23 hours a day, five days a week. The expanded schedule will run from Sunday evening through Friday evening, creating a regulated overnight market for U.S. equities.

Traditional market infrastructure depends on overnight hours to reconcile trades, update reference data, process corporate actions, and prepare systems for the next session. Nasdaq must compress those operations while keeping trading, market data, and risk controls active for most of the day.

One Hour Remains for Maintenance

The exchange will pause trading for one hour each evening to complete maintenance and essential processing. Nasdaq will retain its opening and closing auctions, which establish important benchmark prices and concentrate liquidity during the main trading session.

Overnight price bands, regulatory halts, customer disclosures, and continuous monitoring will remain part of the system. The exchange has also stress-tested its infrastructure against heavy message traffic and periods of extreme market volatility.

Automation Supports Continuous Operation

Nasdaq is introducing enhanced Nasdaq Plus data products to combine information from its U.S. equity exchanges across the longer trading day. Banks, brokers, and market operators will need systems that can process market data, risk checks, settlements, and regulatory reports with limited downtime.

Nasdaq’s Calypso, Eqlipse, Surveillance, and AxiomSL platforms will support different parts of the expanded market infrastructure. The project turns a longer trading schedule into a major technology upgrade built around automation, resilience, cybersecurity, and real-time processing.

Recent Tech Movers

GoDaddy Inc. (NYSE: GDDY)

Reports Thursday, October 29

GoDaddy, which sells domains, hosting, and small business software, reports third-quarter results after the close on Thursday, October 29. In mid-October, it also expanded its developer platform with new hosting, email, and commerce APIs built for AI agents.

The key read is whether its Airo AI tools keep lifting small business signups. Cantor Fitzgerald raised its target to $100 but stayed at Neutral, so a soft outlook could hit the stock fast.

Logitech International (NASDAQ: LOGI)

Reports Tuesday, October 27

Logitech, the maker of keyboards, mice, webcams, and headsets, reports fiscal second-quarter results after the close on Tuesday, October 27. Analysts expect earnings to decline from a year ago, and JPMorgan cut its price target to $94 this month.

The swing factor is office demand as companies replace aging PCs. A guide that clears lowered expectations could spark a rally, while a weak holiday outlook would hand the bears a win.

Iridium Communications (NASDAQ: IRDM)

Aireon deal reshapes the revenue mix

Iridium reported third-quarter revenue of $245.7 million on October 20, up 8%, as service revenue grew 13% with the first contribution from Aireon, its newly acquired aircraft-tracking business. Earnings per share of $0.98 included a $103.9 million one-time gain tied to the deal.

The real question is underlying growth, since operational EBITDA was roughly flat at $135.6 million. The U.S. Space Force has extended Iridium's government contract through March 2027.

AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS)

The coverage launch is the test

AST SpaceMobile said on October 20 that it is targeting initial, intermittent space-based cellular broadband coverage before the end of 2026 in the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia. The company has more than 60 ground gateways deployed, installed, or planned, with partners including AT&T, Verizon, and Vodafone.

The stock has fallen to around its 52-week low, more than two-thirds below its high, as SpaceX pushes deeper into direct-to-phone service. For you, this is a high-risk bet on execution: a smooth launch could flip sentiment, while delays would extend the slide. Third-quarter results are expected around November 9.
